Story in the Globe today discussing the economic impact on wine sales (high end Champagne, icewine and cellar-worthy).
It looks like icewine sales are particularly soft.
Icewines are a small fraction of sales at most wineries, but at Inniskillin, the country's largest producer, it can make up as much as 40 per cent of sales, depending on the harvest. "For us it's quite major," says Inniskillin's Deb Pratt. Vincor Canada, which owns Inniskillin, saw sales brake abruptly in November after a normal October. "It certainly has caught up with us," says export director Randy Dufour.
